Using RI BizBuilder

How to use RI BizBuilder

RI BizBuilder is designed to help entrepreneurs navigate the landscape of business supports in Rhode Island. It features dozens of Rhode Island-focused organizations offering services to help entrepreneurs start and grow their businesses.

The quickest way to get results is to follow the four simple prompts under “Get Started.” You’ll be asked:

  1. What is your business’s current stage? Tell us whether you’re still formulating your ideas, in the startup or early stages, or an established business with a few years of experience.
  2. What do you need help with? You can select more than ten types of commonly requested assistance. If you’ve got an idea but are not sure where to start, “business planning and strategy” resources might provide good direction.
  3. Is your business in any of the following industries? Some services are available for businesses in specific industries. If your business does not fit one of these categories, no worries; there are plenty of non-industry-specific services! Just choose “not applicable.”
  4.  Do any of the following apply to your business? Again, some services are available for businesses or entrepreneurs who meet certain criteria or are looking for specialized offerings.

Once you hit “search,” you’ll get a list of responses that meet your criteria. You can also refine or broaden your search criteria using the filters in the left navigation.

If you want to view all of the resources available in Rhode Island, click “Directory” in the top right navigation.

Not sure where to start?

We know the variety of resources available can be overwhelming. If you’re not sure where to start and would like to speak with someone specifically about your idea or business, we recommend contacting one of the following organizations:

Do you have feedback for us? -- We want to hear from you!

If you have any feedback on or the services you received from a listed organization, please share with us.

Why isn’t my service or organization listed?

A workgroup of the Rhode Island Foundation, Rhode Island Commerce Corporation, Center for Women and Enterprise, and Rhode Island Small Business Development Center directs the RIBizBuilder’s design and content with the support of the Foundation. The workgroup draws on its members’ day-to-day interface with businesses and invites input from business owners and service providers.

To be included, organizations should:

  • Directly serve a broad array of businesses and be willing to accept referrals.
  • Not be a private, profit-making initiative.
  • Not be a service provider (e.g. accountants, lawyers, etc.).
  • Be Rhode Island focused.

If you offer a resource or service that you think should be included, please contact us.
